Imbued with poetry and fantasy, the equestrian shows nevertheless remain deeply rooted in the history of the city of Provins. A legitimacy they owe first and foremost to the ramparts – an authentic setting! – which were built from 1226 to 1236 at the request of Count Thibaud IV of Champagne himself.
The hero of the shows did indeed exist and left his mark on the city: the impressive 25-meter-high wall. The war machines (built by Renaud Beffeyte, a specialist in weaponry and the construction of antique weapons: Armédiéval), the period costumes, and the weapons also give the shows their full historical dimension.
The goal: to introduce the highly codified world of the Middle Ages in a humorous and educational way, to spark the curiosity of children and adults alike, and to inspire them to learn more about this captivating historical period. A different way to brush up on your history!
